The problem
A Canberra family dental practice had a strong reputation in two suburbs and zero organic visibility in the eight others where its catchment shopped on search. The practice had outsourced SEO twice; both engagements had shipped thin location pages that attracted manual-action risk. Local pack rankings were absent.
The constraint
Local dental SEO has a thin-content problem industry-wide. Generalist agencies pad suburb pages with the same paragraph rewritten ten times, hit a manual action, churn the practice to the next agency. The harder play was substantively useful per-suburb content — local schemes, transit, school catchments, parking — that ranked AND survived audit. AHPRA dental and ACCC fair-trading sat alongside, ruling out the comparative-local claims pad-SEO leans on.
The approach
Suburb-side content rebuilt as substantive practice-area pages — hours, transit, local school catchment dental scheme detail, parking — rather than keyword-stuffed clones. Each page reviewed against AHPRA framing and ACCC misleading-claims at draft. Technical SEO and Google Business Profile cleaned in parallel.
The outcome
Local organic enquiries up 92% across two quarters, with the practice now ranking in the local pack across nine of ten target suburbs. Manual-action risk from the prior thin-content stack was retired with the rebuild. The new pages have absorbed two Google core updates without ranking loss.
